In the film, Judge Reinhold stars as Brad Hamilton, a high-school senior working thankless fast food jobs while he prepares for college. The Car: 1949 Buick Roadmaster ConvertibleThe Film: Rain Man (1988)Now one of the most iconic vehicles in film history, the ultra-rare 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible that carries Charlie Babbit (Tom Cruise) and his autistic brother Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) across the country in the 1988 instant classic "Rain Man" is not only a beautiful automobile, it winds up becoming a kind of rolling metaphor for relationships, the love we have for our siblings, and family in general. Whatever the case, the beautiful cream Buick with a red interior wound up being as much of a star in the film as Cruise and Hoffman. As for the film, it went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Barry Levinson and a Best Actor statuette for Dustin Hoffmann. The Car: 1994 Buick Roadmaster SedanThe Film: The Departed (2007) Another Best Picture Winner featuring a Buick, 2007's "The Departed" is a master class in how to make a great crime movie, directed by the undisputed master, Martin Scorsese. Starring Jack Nicholson as real-life Boston mob boss Frank Costello, the film follows an undercover Massachusetts State Police officer played by Leonard DiCaprio as he tries to infiltrate Costello's tight-knit crew of murderous gangster and take them down on the inside. Throughout the film, Costello shows his great taste by being chauferred around in a ruby red 1994 Buick Roadmaster Sedan. Nominated for five Academy Awards, the film went on to win four Oscars, including Best Picture and -- at last -- a Best Director nod for Scorsese.

If the Vehicle History Report shows a salvage title, you probably don't want that vehicle. Years spent in snowy or coastal areas: Salt is the enemy of metal, causing corrosion, pitting and damage that can go undetected for years, even as the dreaded steel cancer eats away at components and body panels. If a Vehicle History Report shows that a vehicle has spent an extended period of time in an area near the ocean, or in a snowy state which uses extensive road salt every winter to keep the highways safe, be sure to inspect the undercarriage and body panels carefully for evidence of rust damage. Ownership by a business or rental agency: In general, a vehicle owned by a private owner is going to be better maintained and cared for than a vehicle driven by people who rented it, or employees of a business that owns that vehicle as a company car. If the Vehicle History Report shows the vehicle as a former fleet or rental vehicle, tread carefully. Reported mileage that's higher than the displayed odometer reading: One of the invaluable things a Vehicle History Report can show you is the verified odometer reading at various points in the vehicle's life, including service appointments, when the vehicle was sold, and more. If any of the mileage readings in the Vehicle History Report are higher than the mileage displayed on the digital odometer of the vehicle, it could indicate odometer fraud. While GMC has long been more about building tough, hard-working trucks and SUVs than performance vehicles than can hang with Ferraris and Corvettes. However, those who doubt the Professional Grade brand's ability to build a world-class muscle machine may be forgetting that for two great years in the early 1990s, GMC built one of the world's quickest and most beautiful performance machines ever made: the GMC Syclone. Limited-Edition 2019 GMC Syclone So how many GMC Syclones were made? Built only in 1991 and 1992, fewer than 3,000 Syclones were produced in total, with only three being shipped by GMC in all of 1992. With those low numbers, high horsepower and a corner-carving all-wheel drive system, the GMC Syclone... more has since become a holy grail for many collectors — even though most hardcore GMC fans have never seen one outside of a photo or video. Based on the 1991-1992 GMC Sonoma (GMC's version of the popular Chevrolet S-10 compact pickup) the Syclone looked the part of a beast, even when sitting still. Radiating an uncompromising performance vibe, the Syclone featured an all-black color scheme, a lowered stance, model-specific alloy wheels, a front spoiler and unique aerodynamic body cladding. Under the hood was the same 4.3-liter, all-iron Vortec V6 used in many other GMC Sonomas, though the Syclone truck was packing a few important differences. First and foremost was the same GM-produced turbocharger that had been at the heart of the legendary Buick Grand National in the 1980s. Pumping out 14 pounds of boost, the turbo's charge was fed through a liquid intercooler to chill the air before it entered the intake. Word is that GMC lowballed the horsepower rating on the Syclone to avoid scaring the bejesus out of insurance companies, but officially, the Syclone made 280 horsepower and a tire-shredding 350 lb.-ft of torque from the factory. For a little perspective, the 1991 Chevrolet Corvette — Chevy's flagship performance car, with a 5.7-liter V8 — was only producing 250 horsepower the same year. What's So Great About Denali Vehicles? When it comes to putting big horsepower to the ground, notoriously light-in-the-rear smaller pickups are at a significant disadvantage, as anyone who ever stuffed a small-block V8 into a Sonoma or S-10 can attest. But the GMC Syclone had another trick up its sleeve when it came to traction: a Borg-Warner full-time all-wheel drive system, which GMC engineers had borrowed from the 1991 GMC Safari minivan. Designed to send 65 percent of the engine's power and torque to the rear wheels and 35 percent to the front, the result was a small pickup that accelerated like a supercar, with none of the tendency to fishtail on takeoff. Combined with wide, Firestone Firehawk speed-rated radial tires, the all-wheel drive system made the Syclone able to do all kinds of tricks. These included a rocket-sled zero-to-60 time of 4.3 seconds, as well as covering the quarter mile from a standing start in a blistering 13.7 seconds at over 105 miles per hour. When Car and Driver magazine lined a 1991 GMC Syclone up against a $122,000 Ferrari 348ts at the drag strip for their September 1991 issue, the Syclone smoked the Italian, beating the Ferrari by what observers said was three full car lengths. The 1991 GMC Syclone on Jay Leno's Garage Though the Syclone (and the later Jimmy-based SUV version, the 1992-1993 GMC Typhoon) were big hits with gearheads and critics, sales were slow, mostly due to the Syclone's then-astronomical $25,500 cost. It also didn't help that the suspension lowering and all-wheel drive left the Syclone with a hauling capacity of only 500 pounds, which made it fairly useless if you wanted to load up anything heavier than a washing machine. After the 1992 model year, the Syclone was dropped from production. Still, the 1991-92 GMC Syclone lives on in the hearts of fans. It stands as both a beautiful example of GMC engineering ingenuity and as a reminder that GMC can do so much more than just build tough and reliable trucks. Today, a GMC Syclone in even wrung-out shape can command more than $10,000 at auction, with fully restored or low mileage examples going for upwards of $25,000. Revolving around the adventures of a team of mercenaries for hire on the run from the U.S. Government after being accused of a crime they didn't commit, the show's most popular character was Mr. T's B.A. Barrackus, a muscled up, mohawked weapons and demolitions expert with a heart of gold -- and the gold draped neck to match. As you'll undoubtedly remember if you're a fan, the GMC van belonged to B.A., who had customized it with a distinctive paint scheme featuring a red "hockey stick" stripe, a matching rooftop spoiler, and red turbine-style wheels. Fun fact: though most fans remember the van as black and red, it was actually three-tone, with gloss black below the distinctive red stripe, and a dark metallic grey that was almost black above. The Fall Guy 1981-1986, ABC The GMC: 1981 GMC K-2500 Sierra Grande 4x4 One of several 1980s TV shows that revolved around either stuntmen or bounty hunters, ABC's "The Fall Guy" was the show that figured: why not both? The plot revolved around the weekly adventures of stuntman Colt Seavers, played by former "Six Million Dollar Man" star Lee Majors, who moonlighted as a bounty hunter. Colt's daily driver was a 1981 GMC K-2500 4x4 in the luxurious Sierra Grande trim. A two tone brown-and-gold beauty with a lifted stance, a chrome roll bar, a chrome grille guard and mounted Baja-style fog lights, the long-wheelbase GMC chased nefarious no-goodniks on the show for five years, with GMC supplying the trucks in exchange for a credit and the understandable bump in sales of having a GMC front and center on one of America's top-rated action hits. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) The GMC: 1930 GMC Taxi Though GMC is known today as a maker of trucks and SUVs, the company has built commercial vehicles of all kinds over the past century. Back in the 1920s and 30s, that included taxi cabs, including a very famous one: the character Ernie's 1930 GMC Taxi Cab used on screen in Frank Capra's Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life." The film, which involves a hapless angel who shows a depressed man named George Bailey (James Stewart) what the world would lose if he went through with his plan to commit suicide, was something of a box-office flop when it premiered, but the advent of television and the fact that it could be shown by stations without cost because the copyright had been allowed to lapse brought it back and made "It's a Wonderful Life" a treasured and beloved film. In the flick, Ernie's taxi is seen several times, including after Bailey gets married, and another scene where Ernie drives George around Bedford Falls. Even better: the taxi still exists. After languishing in storage for over 50 years, it has been completely restored and was recently put on display by the American Automotive Heritage Foundation. The Bridges of Madison County (1985) The GMC: 1960 GMC 1500 pickup There are tearjerkers, and then there's 1995's "The Bridges of Madison County," starring film icons Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. Based on the book by Robert James Waller, the film is the story of a romance between Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer played by Eastwood who comes to remote Madison County, Iowa to photograph the historic covered bridges there and winds up having a brief, torrid affair with a lonely housewife named Francesca Johnson, played by Streep. Told through a frame narrative which has Johnson's children discovering their mother's secret affair through letters and photos after she has passed away, it's a whirlwind of romance and emotion. Streep would go on to receive one of her countless Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for her work in the heartbreaking film, which has since gone on to become a true modern classic of the romantic genre. In the film, Eastwood's truck is a green 1960 GMC 1500 which plays a starring role in several important scenes, including a scene in which Streep is overcome by her feelings just from a glimpse of the truck. While the film isn't everybody's cup of tea, it's beloved by millions today, especially when they need a good, old fashioned cry.

Because of the hilly terrain of Eureka Springs, St. Elizabeth's is the only church in the world with an entrance through the top of the bell tower, a fact that got it listed in the famous Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
