If you do a lot of driving, you know that there's no better way to make the long miles shorter than a great podcast or audiobook. Now Buick is making the chore of finding great audiobook and podcast content easier than ever, with a new partnership with a book club started by Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon. Called "Reese's Book Club" and managed through Witherspoon's production company Hello Sunshine, the partnership will deliver free, curated content to the infotainment screen of any newer Buick vehicle. Reese’s Book Club -- which exclusively showcases books with female protagonists and women-centered stories -- currently has over 1.7 million followers on Instagram, and books selected by the club routinely rocket to the top of the New York Times Bestseller List. The podcast... more and audiobook content delivered by Hello Sunshine will be integrated into the in-vehicle touchscreen app of Buick cars and SUVs, including the all-new 2021 Buick Encore GX. Most other newer Buick models will be getting the app upgrade by early 2021. The Reese's Book Club content is expected to be especially popular with women, who make up an estimated 55 percent of Buick buyers, according to consumer tracking firm J.D. Power. “Hello Sunshine shines a light on women, creating and telling stories that put women at the center, and that’s something Buick wants to be a part of,” said Kate Hrabovsky, Buick advertising and media operations manager. “As more women are making vehicle-buying decisions, we want to be thinking creatively about how to offer more driving experiences tailored for them.” In addition to the curated content served to Buick drivers through the in-vehicle app, the partnership will also see Buick vehicles appearing extensively in television and film projects created and produced by Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine production group. "Logan Lucky" (2017) -- Directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring a host of Hollywood A-listers, including Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Katie Holmes and current... more "James Bond" star Daniel Craig, "Logan Lucky" is a hilarious hillbilly heist film about a pair of hapless brothers, played by Driver and Tatum, who plan to rob Charlotte Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600 race over Memorial Day weekend with the help of their uncle and safecracker Joe Bang (Craig). One hitch: Bang is in prison, and they have to break him out and back into jail to make the heist happen on schedule. That's just one of the twists in this very funny film, which features plenty of NASCAR action and the hustle and bustle behind the scenes at Charlotte Motor Speedway. "Mad Max: Fury Road" (2015) -- We're huge fans of the original "Mad Max" films of the 1970s and 80s, so we were understandably excited when we heard original director George Miller was returning to write and direct a new vision of the film's topsy-turvy, car-obsessed, post-apocalyptic world. Little did we know that "Mad Max: Fury Road" would be not only a continuation of the original films, but actually surpass the originals in spectacle and quality while rebooting the franchise for a whole new century. Tom Hardy takes over for Mel Gibson as Max, who goes on the run with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) after she steals an armored, fuel-hauling "War Rig" and the enslaved wives of cult leader Immortan Joe. Packed with incredible action and even more incredible vehicles, the film manages to be not only one of the best car movies of the decade, but one of the best films of the 21st Century so far. "Baby Driver" (2017) -- Written and directed by British filmmaker Edgar Wright, "Baby Driver" is one of the most innovative and exciting action films of the 2010s, nominated for three Academy Awards and winding up on many critics' best-of-the-year lists. Starring newcomer Ansel Elgort, the film centers around the story of youthful street-driving phenom known only as Baby, who has turned his icy-calm nerves and passion for driving into a profitable sideline as a getaway driver for thieves. After getting in debt to a ruthless crime boss played by Kevin Spacey, Baby teams up with a gang of criminals played by Jon Hamm, Jon Bernthal, Jamie Foxx and Christina Hendricks for one last score before he's out. Things go in fast, pulse-pounding directions from there, in a film that's one of the best of the decade. "Ford vs. Ferrari" (2019) -- Directed by the great James Mangold, "Ford vs. Ferrari" is based on one of the most incredible and thrilling true stories in motorsports history: the effort by Carroll Shelby, Henry Ford II and Ford Motor Company to build the legendary Ford GT40, an all-American supercar built solely to take down the dominant racers of Enzo Ferrari in the 1966 24 Hours of LeMans road race. Starring Oscar winners Matt Damon as Shelby and Christian Bale as high-strung British racing driver Ken Miles, the film is non-stop action from the word go, featuring some of the most heart-stopping racing scenes ever committed to film as Shelby and Miles push technology to the ragged edge in search of victory and raw speed. For anyone who ever loved fast cars, it's a true delight that may take home a few Oscars of its own in 2020.

The Car: 1940 Buick Model 81C PhaetonThe Film: Casablanca (1942)Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman as star-crossed former lovers Rick and Isla, 1942's "Casablanca" went on to win both an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1943 and a spot in the global pantheon of film, recognized as one of the greatest movies of all time. A 1940 Buick Model 81C Phaeton -- a rare and elegant four-door convertible -- makes an appearance in the crucial final scene, ferrying characters to the Casablanca airport and a crucial meeting with a waiting plane. The car still exists today, and fetched $380,000 at auction in 2013 thanks to its connection the film. The Car: 1960 Buick LeSabre SedanThe Film: Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1980) The 1980s turned out to be a golden age for the so-called "teenage movie," with flicks like "Caddyshack," "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles" wavering between brainy and downright raunchy in search of laughs and a true portrait of growing up in a changing America. Kicking off the decade in a big way is one of the best high school comedies of all time, 1980's "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." In the film, Judge Reinhold stars as Brad Hamilton, a high-school senior working thankless fast food jobs while he prepares for college. His ride, which features prominently in several scenes, is a blue 1960 Buick LeSabre sedan he has nicknamed The Cruising Vessel. That's probably because, at over 16 feet long, it's as big as a good sized boat. The Car: 1949 Buick Roadmaster ConvertibleThe Film: Rain Man (1988)Now one of the most iconic vehicles in film history, the ultra-rare 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible that carries Charlie Babbit (Tom Cruise) and his autistic brother Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) across the country in the 1988 instant classic "Rain Man" is not only a beautiful automobile, it winds up becoming a kind of rolling metaphor for relationships, the love we have for our siblings, and family in general. Whatever the case, the beautiful cream Buick with a red interior wound up being as much of a star in the film as Cruise and Hoffman. As for the film, it went on to win four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Barry Levinson and a Best Actor statuette for Dustin Hoffmann. The Car: 1994 Buick Roadmaster SedanThe Film: The Departed (2007) Another Best Picture Winner featuring a Buick, 2007's "The Departed" is a master class in how to make a great crime movie, directed by the undisputed master, Martin Scorsese. Starring Jack Nicholson as real-life Boston mob boss Frank Costello, the film follows an undercover Massachusetts State Police officer played by Leonard DiCaprio as he tries to infiltrate Costello's tight-knit crew of murderous gangster and take them down on the inside. Throughout the film, Costello shows his great taste by being chauferred around in a ruby red 1994 Buick Roadmaster Sedan. Nominated for five Academy Awards, the film went on to win four Oscars, including Best Picture and -- at last -- a Best Director nod for Scorsese.

And we're ready to make you a customer and a friend for life. more The A-Team 1983-1987, NBC The GMC: 1983 GMC Vandura van One of the most iconic vehicles in TV history, the customized 1983 GMC Vandura van on the action hit show "The A-Team" has become a classic since the show went off the air, endlessly cloned by fans. Revolving around the adventures of a team of mercenaries for hire on the run from the U.S. Government after being accused of a crime they didn't commit, the show's most popular character was Mr. T's B.A. Barrackus, a muscled up, mohawked weapons and demolitions expert with a heart of gold -- and the gold draped neck to match. As you'll undoubtedly remember if you're a fan, the GMC van belonged to B.A., who had customized it with a distinctive paint scheme featuring a red "hockey stick" stripe, a matching rooftop spoiler, and red turbine-style wheels. Fun fact: though most fans remember the van as black and red, it was actually three-tone, with gloss black below the distinctive red stripe, and a dark metallic grey that was almost black above. The Fall Guy 1981-1986, ABC The GMC: 1981 GMC K-2500 Sierra Grande 4x4 One of several 1980s TV shows that revolved around either stuntmen or bounty hunters, ABC's "The Fall Guy" was the show that figured: why not both? The plot revolved around the weekly adventures of stuntman Colt Seavers, played by former "Six Million Dollar Man" star Lee Majors, who moonlighted as a bounty hunter. Colt's daily driver was a 1981 GMC K-2500 4x4 in the luxurious Sierra Grande trim. A two tone brown-and-gold beauty with a lifted stance, a chrome roll bar, a chrome grille guard and mounted Baja-style fog lights, the long-wheelbase GMC chased nefarious no-goodniks on the show for five years, with GMC supplying the trucks in exchange for a credit and the understandable bump in sales of having a GMC front and center on one of America's top-rated action hits. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) The GMC: 1930 GMC Taxi Though GMC is known today as a maker of trucks and SUVs, the company has built commercial vehicles of all kinds over the past century. Back in the 1920s and 30s, that included taxi cabs, including a very famous one: the character Ernie's 1930 GMC Taxi Cab used on screen in Frank Capra's Christmas classic "It's a Wonderful Life." The film, which involves a hapless angel who shows a depressed man named George Bailey (James Stewart) what the world would lose if he went through with his plan to commit suicide, was something of a box-office flop when it premiered, but the advent of television and the fact that it could be shown by stations without cost because the copyright had been allowed to lapse brought it back and made "It's a Wonderful Life" a treasured and beloved film. In the flick, Ernie's taxi is seen several times, including after Bailey gets married, and another scene where Ernie drives George around Bedford Falls. Even better: the taxi still exists. After languishing in storage for over 50 years, it has been completely restored and was recently put on display by the American Automotive Heritage Foundation. The Bridges of Madison County (1985) The GMC: 1960 GMC 1500 pickup There are tearjerkers, and then there's 1995's "The Bridges of Madison County," starring film icons Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. Based on the book by Robert James Waller, the film is the story of a romance between Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer played by Eastwood who comes to remote Madison County, Iowa to photograph the historic covered bridges there and winds up having a brief, torrid affair with a lonely housewife named Francesca Johnson, played by Streep. Told through a frame narrative which has Johnson's children discovering their mother's secret affair through letters and photos after she has passed away, it's a whirlwind of romance and emotion. Streep would go on to receive one of her countless Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for her work in the heartbreaking film, which has since gone on to become a true modern classic of the romantic genre. In the film, Eastwood's truck is a green 1960 GMC 1500 which plays a starring role in several important scenes, including a scene in which Streep is overcome by her feelings just from a glimpse of the truck. While the film isn't everybody's cup of tea, it's beloved by millions today, especially when they need a good, old fashioned cry.
