“The new 2021 Canyon AT4 broadens the appeal to midsize truck customers who live an active lifestyle,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. “Much like the Sierra AT4 has...

attracted new customers from outside GMC, the Canyon AT4 will attract outdoor enthusiasts looking for a premium midsize truck to GMC with the capability, technology and refinement they’ve come to expect.”

The first-ever GMC Canyon pickup to wear the AT4 badge, the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 dazzles with bold exterior design, including the AT4 line's exclusive Dark Chrome finishes, a larger grille design and red recovery hooks, like those seen on the big brother Sierra AT4. Underneath the skin, the Canyon AT4 gets the most rugged gear GMC has to offer, including an off-road tuned suspension with Advanced Hill Descent Control, an Eaton G80 auto-locking rear differential, a transfer case skid plate to protect the driveline from impacts and more. Putting the power to the ground are big ol' 31-inch Goodyear DuraTrac tires mounted on signature Dark Chrome 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the GMC Canyon AT4 will up the refinement, with a leather interior with unique Kalahari stitching and AT4 logos embroidered into the headrests.

“This is a truck created with outdoor adventurers in mind,” said Aldred. “The Canyon AT4 is a perfect complement to the driver’s other passions and appreciation of the details, whether that’s a mountain bike, a snowboard or their truck.”

The new Canyon AT4 is powered by either the 3.6-liter V8 with best-in-class 308 horsepower to help you muscle through the rough out on the trail, or the optional 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel, a compact powerhouse delivering a whopping 369 lb.-ft. of torque. Properly equipped, the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 will be able to tow up to 7,000 pounds, meaning you can hitch up and bring toys like dirt bikes, wave runners, a ski boat or even a camping trailer along for the ride the next time you decide to light out for adventure.

The new 2021 GMC Canyon, including the 2021 Canyon AT4, will be proudly built in the USA, at General Motors' Wentzville Assembly Center in Wentzville, Missouri. Shipping to dealerships will begin later this summer, with starting prices for the 2021 Canyon AT4 announced soon.

The MultiPro Tailgate is an innovative feature included on the GMC more Sierra 1500 and the GMC Sierra Heavy Duty. It’s made up of a primary gate and a smaller inner gate, hinged within the main gate. By manipulating these two panels in various combinations, the MultiPro Tailgate can transform and serve several different purposes. The tailgate was developed with feedback from pickup owners to maximize its functionality and durability. You can open it using the release button on the tailgate itself, using the instrument panel button, or activating the remote key fob. It also uses a torsional spring and a damper, meaning it can be lifted effortlessly and lowered gently. Check out some of the ways you can best utilize the GMC MultiPro Tailgate: Load Stop (Primary Gate and Inner Gate) When you're transporting longer items such as lumber, bikes, or kayaks, the MultiPro Tailgate's load stop feature is incredibly useful. By unlatching the inner gate panel and folding it upright, you create a vertical barrier that prevents items from sliding out of the bed. The GMC Sierra’s two-tier loading design divides the bed into two sections, which is handy for separating cargo. The MultiPro Tailgate further supports this function, allowing the inside panel of the inner gate to unfold into an upper-tier load stop for extended cargo. Check Out the First GMC Sierra EV Full-Width Step Accessing the cargo bed has never been easier! By releasing and lowering both the primary and inner gates, the inner panel can be unlatched and folded down to create a sturdy full-width bed step. This step is 48 inches wide and capable of supporting up to 375 pounds. There’s also a fold-out hand grab on the cargo box wall, which provides extra support when entering the bed. Outdoor Tunes For those who love outdoor activities, the MultiPro Tailgate is perfect for camping or tailgating parties. It offers an optional 100-watt exterior audio system by KICKER, which is integrated directly into the inner panel of the tailgate. The system includes two 4-inch coaxial drivers, a compact amplifier, controls, and a USB port for charging devices. It also supports Bluetooth and is weather-resistant! Don’t worry about zapping your battery — the KICKER audio system operates independently from your truck. It’s designed with a low current draw so you can enjoy hours of music, and it includes a tilt switch that automatically powers down the speakers when the inner gate step is folded shut. High-End Car Features That Are Surprisingly Affordable Easy Access No more awkwardly stretching across your tailgate to grab your cargo. The MultiPro Tailgate makes accessing the truck bed more efficient and less strenuous by lowering its inner gate. This feature allows you to stand 7 to 9 inches closer to the truck bed floor than a conventional tailgate. Inner Gate Work Surface The MultiPro Tailgate also functions as a practical work surface. Lowering just the inner gate creates a level surface at a comfortable height, ideal for whatever tasks you may run into. Thanks to the 120-volt electrical outlet in the truck bed, you can even charge your laptop or phone as you work.
