1) Industry-first MultiPro Tailgate: Even the tailgate on the 2019 GMC Sierra isn’t just a tailgate anymore. The engineers behind the 2019 Sierra took things a step further, turning to a clean sheet of paper to create the class-exclusive MultiPro Tailgate, which can be reconfigured in six different ways to help you work smarter. In addition to looking great and continuing the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500’s striking lines, the tailgate opens at the touch of a button on the keyfob, and can transform into a full-width step that can support up to 375 pounds, a load stop for longer items, an elevated work surface that can be used as a standing desk on the jobsite, and more.
2) Industry-First Carbon Fiber Cargo Box: If your truck is more than a showboat, you know how quickly everyday use can leave the inside of your truck’s painted cargo box looking like scratched, dinged, rusty mess. With the available CarbonPro cargo box, however, that’s a thing of the past. Made of bombproof carbon fiber, the GMC-exclusive CarbonPro box offers absolute protection from chips, scratches, dings and scrapes, helping you keep your 2019 GMC Sierra looking like new even if you use your truck like a truck.
3) ProGrade Trailering System: While your average truck “towing package” might include a receiver hitch and place to plug in the wiring, the 2019 GMC Sierra goes far beyond expectations with the ProGrade Trailering System, which includes hitch guidance through the Hitch View rear camera feed to the in-dash touchscreen, hitch area lighting via a tailgate-mounted lamp that shines directly down on the hitch, an integrated trailer brake controller, and automatic electric parking brake that applies the parking brake every time you shift into park, keeping the truck from rolling forward or backward once you’ve got the hitch and trailer ball in perfect alignment.
4) The All-New GMC Trailering App: Working in conjunction with the 2019 GMC Sierra’s Infotainment screen, the smartphone-based GMC Trailering App features a number of handy features that make towing a trailer easier and safer than ever, including pre-departure checklists, a trailer light test that allows you to stand at the rear of the trailer and check to make sure the turn signals, brake lights and emergency flashers are working before you hit the road, remote trailer tire pressure monitoring, and a trailer theft alert that activates the truck’s lights and horn while sending an alert to your cell phone if the trailer is disconnected while your 2019 GMC Sierra is parked and locked. That’s using technology to work smarter, and it’s only on the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500.
5) Adaptive Ride Control: Though there was a day when driving a truck meant suffering with a spine-jarring ride on rough roads, the 2019 GMC Sierra shows those days are in the past with Adaptive Ride Control, which offers sedan-like comfort while still delivering the payload capacity and control you need. Built on the same technology that underpins modern race cars, the system electronically monitors acceleration, braking, cornering and trailering and then adjusts the suspension’s active damping shock absorbers up to every two milliseconds for ultimate ride quality,
6) The all-new Traction Select System: there is no one-size-fits-all situation when it comes to conditions and terrain, so the 2019 GMC Sierra is ready for anything with the all-new Traction Select System, which tailors the drivetrain to meet the needs of the moment, adjusting the Sierra’s transmission shifting, throttle response and StabiliTrak traction control for optimum control and grip under challenging situations. The Traction Select system features five modes which can be selected from inside the cab on the fly, including Touring, Snow, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul modes to help keep you in command and in control, even when the going gets tricky.
7) The most-powerful gasoline V8 engine in any full-size truck: When the going gets tough, there’s no substitute for brute force horsepower, and the 2019 GMC Sierra delivers with the available 6.2-Liter V8, the industry’s largest-displacement and most powerful V8 engine, with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of tow-hungry torque on tap. The cutting-edge power plant includes the all-new Dynamic Fuel Management Dynamic Fuel Management, which offers industry-first cylinder deactivation that allows the 6.2 liter V8 to operate in 17 different firing patterns based on power needs, with as little as two cylinders activated for ultimate efficiency when power demands are low. Paired with GMC’s all-new 10 speed automatic, it’s an unbeatable combination.
