Pizza

We’re blessed to live in Arkansas for a lot of reasons, and one of the best is the stellar food our state has to offer. From the piney woods down south to the mountains in the northwest to the delta in the east, there’s great food to be had in almost every little town and big city in the state.

Though momma always told us to eat three square meals a day, we sneak in a round one every once in awhile in the form of a delicious pizza. Is there any meal more convenient? No fork or knife required; just two hands, an appetite and some napkins to clean up the aftermath. We call that the perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner!

We’re lucky to have dozens of great pizza places in Arkansas, and seen below are four that are definitely worth a road trip. So read on for four of our favorite pizza joints…

in Arkansas. And if you need a great new or used vehicle to get you there, stop in today at McLarty Daniel Buick GMC, where our deals are unmatched and our service is unparalleled.

DELUCA’S PIZZA NAPOLETANA
831 Central Ave.
Hot Springs
http://delucashotsprings.com
Started in 2013 as a cozy, six-table restaurant, Deluca’s Pizzeria Napoletana has distinguished itself since then as one of the Natural State’s premiere places for gourmet pizza, featuring wood-fired pies loaded with fresh ingredients, artisan cheese and a plentiful serving of love. Though they moved to a larger space in 2018, be prepared to wait for a table during peak hours, and for a bit of sticker shock. Signature pizzas go from upwards of $28 each, but are totally worth it.

IRIANA’S PIZZA
201 East Markham St.
Little Rock
www.irianaspizza.com
A great, brightly-lit pizza joint situated only a block away from Little Rock’s fun and entertainment-packed River Market District, Iriana’s pizza serves up some of the best pies in the city thanks to the skills of proprietor John Iriana, an Italian-American who really knows what he’s doing in the kitchen. Big ol’ pizzas loaded with delicious toppings on a crunchy/chewy crust are the standard fare, but there’s nothing standard about the flavor. For a truly supreme experience, try their “Clean the Floor” special with everything but the kitchen sink.

NIMA’S PIZZA
109 S. School Street
Gassville
www.nimaspizza.com
Situated in tiny Gassville a few miles from Mountain Home in extreme north central Arkansas, Nima’s Pizza may be a little out of the way for most folks, but you’re never going to beat the family-friendly atmosphere or the delicious pizzas served up by this small, family-run joint. Each pizza is made with love, hand-tossed at the time of order from a secret family dough recipe that’s whipped up fresh every day. From there, they pile on the toppings for a pie that’s as delicious as it is affordable. Got a crowd to feed? Try Nima’s 16″ x 26″ “Family Sheet” pizzas, which serve 8 to 10 adults.

ROD’S PIZZA CELLAR
3350 Central Ave.
Hot Springs
www.rodspizzacellar.com
Another stellar pizza joint from Hot Springs, Rod’s Pizza Cellar has been a local institution since 1975, dishing up huge, stick-to-your-ribs fare that includes sandwiches, salads, and pasta dishes galore. The star of the show, however, is the pizza: dictionary-thick pies on a buttery crust, loaded with so many topping and so much cheese that you may need a fork to eat it and a box for the leftovers, even if you go conservative and only order a small. For the biggest appetites, try the legendary Rod’s Godfather, with copious amounts of pepperoni, Canadian bacon, onions, green peppers, olives and sausage loaded down with over a pound of shredded provolone. Stick with the 10-inch or 13-inch unless you’re feeding an army. It’s delicious either way.
