BUICK HELPS DRIVERS BREAK OUT OF THEIR FOODIE RUT WITH YELP RESERVATIONS | MCLARTY DANIEL BUICK GMC

Is there anything worse than trying to pick out a restaurant for the evening? The safe bet is to eat the same-ol-same-ol, but that can wind up landing you in a culinary rut. Try something new on the spur of the moment, however, and you might come away disappointed.

Helping you break out of the vicious circle of “I don’t know, what do you want?” that most everyone has found themselves trapped in is the news that Buick now offers restaurant reviews, reservations and ordering help right through Buick’s in-dash infotainment screen, via a new app called Yelp Reservations.

Introduced through a recent update to the Buick Marketplace section of the in-dash touchscreen found in every new Buick, the system gives drivers and their passengers access to tens of thousands of accurate restaurant reviews on establishments nationwide. The system also…

allows drivers to make a reservation, call the restaurant, navigate directly to the restaurant they choose, and other actions, all through voice command. Currently, Yelp includes over 160 million restaurant views.

Yelp Reservations is a first for the Buick’s Infotainment system Marketplace, which was the first in-car system to meld automotive technology and commerce. Once you touch the Yelp Reservations tab in the Marketplace app on your Buick’s infotainment touchscreen, you can search for restaurants and bars within a 25-mile radius of your current location, and make a reservation for up to 10 people. The system also allows you to search for restaurants by category, such as Tex-Mex, Steak House, or Seafood, as well as by the restaurant’s average Yelp rating and price range.

“Whether drivers want to make a dinner reservation on the go, or get recommendations for restaurants in a new city, the newly added Yelp Reservations brings simple convenience to the car,” said Buick Marketing director Sam Russell. “Making new features like this available for vehicles already on the road enhances our vehicles with unexpected new benefits for our customers.”

Available on all 2017 and newer Buick models in the United States, Buick Marketplace allows drivers to place food and drink orders, wirelessly and securely pay for gas at participating fuel stations, and get updates on the latest services and updates from Buick, all without ever leaving their vehicle.
