The package, just announced by GMC, takes the already formidable premium off-road engineering of the AT4 special edition and sends it into the stratosphere with a high-performance V8, performance intake and exhaust, special tires and wheels and more.

“The 2019 GMC Sierra AT4 debuted all-new, purposeful technologies for the premium truck segment,” said GMC vice president Duncan Aldred. “The new Off-Road Performance Package takes it a step farther.” It offers optimized performance, both on- and off-road.”

Equipment included in the 2019 Sierra 1500 AT4 Off-Road Performance Package starts with a slightly hopped-up version of GMC’s already stellar 6.2-liter EcoTech3 V8, backed by GM’s revolutionary 10-speed automatic transmission. Helping that big engine breathe a bit better is a high performance cold-air intake, plus a performance exhaust system from the factory catalytic converters on back. Those performance upgrades help the 6.2-liter V8 — which was the only truck V8 named to WardsAuto’s prestigious 10 Best Engines of 2018 List — gain 15 horsepower and nine lb.-ft of torque over stock. The result is a whopping 435 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque on tap, and more miles per smile out on the muddy trail.

Putting that power to the ground on the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 equipped with the Off-Road Performance Package are special edition 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, wrapped in the proven off-road performance of Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.

The horsepower and torque bump builds on the AT4’s already formidable strengths, including a standard two-inch factory lift kit, off-road tuned monotube shocks by legendary racing provider Rancho, a standard two-speed transfer case, a locking rear differential, and a full complement of high-strength steel skid plates to up-armor critical drivetrain components against rocks and other obstacles when heading off-road.

In addition, every 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 4×4 comes standard with GMC’s revolutionary Hill Descent Control and Traction Select System, the industry-first GMC-exclusive MultiPro six-function tailgate, a refined black chrome finish on all exterior brightwork and red recovery hooks, plus a full suite of incredible technology like the available heads-up display, carbon fiber bed interior for ultimate scratch and dent protection, full-speed automatic front braking, and more.
